Radford's Javonte Green has won the StatSheet Big South Player of the Week award for the week ending February 11th. StatSheet's Big South Freshman of the Week goes to North Carolina-Asheville's Will Weeks.
Green led all of the Big South in rebounding (13.0 per game). He also put up respectable numbers with 60% shooting, 3 assists per game, and 25 points per game. The Radford sophomore played well in a victory against Presbyterian and an unfortunate loss to Liberty.
Green led the Highlanders in scoring and rebounding with 23 points and 13 rebounds in a 75-70 loss to Liberty. In the next game he led all scoring and rebounding with a 27 point and 13 rebound performance in a 76-65 victory against Presbyterian.
This is the first StatSheet Big South Player of the Week honor for Javonte Green. However, he has been a runner-up once and received an honorable mention. The runner-up this week is senior Stan Okoye from Virginia Military Institute. Honorable mention goes to D.J. Covington, a junior from Virginia Military Institute. The highest ranking player from Coastal Carolina was Kierre Greenwood who finished 12th.
StatSheet Big South Freshman of the Week: North Carolina-Asheville's Will Weeks
Will Weeks was on the floor an average of 36 minutes while starting both games for North Carolina-Asheville. In a 69-56 win over Winthrop, Weeks rang up 8 rebounds and 4 steals. Then in a 90-79 win against Virginia Military Institute, he dialed up 4 assists and 63% shooting.
Will Weeks has won the StatSheet Big South Freshman of the Week an astounding 4 times. Phillip Anglade from Virginia Military Institute gets runner-up. Honorable mention goes to John Brown from High Point. Michel Enanga was the highest ranking freshman from Coastal Carolina and finished 4th. Coastal Carolina has yet to win the StatSheet Big South Player of the Week award this season.
